It's New Year's Day. I was reading the comics. They showed the new year as MMX11. Years ago I wrote a little poem or ditty to help my class remember roman numerals. Here it goes:
L is for lunch--and ice cream costs fifty (cents)
C is for counting by hundreds that's nifty
D is for dragon--500 scales on its back--without any fur
M is for mom--a 1000 kisses for her.
So, when I saw the roman numerals this morning, the poem came back. It's been 20 years and I still remember it. Happy 2012. By the way. My theory on the Mayan calendar running out is that they were prophetic. They knew we'd have iphones with calendars and reminders built in by now.

You have the most interesting and fun ways for teaching that have always helped me when I am having trouble with learning something.
